Robert Ackermann is an accomplished goldsmith, jewelry designer, gemologist, business owner and educator with more than thirty-five years of experience. Robert was privileged to learn the trade from the bottom up in the Swiss dual education system under master goldsmiths in Zurich from the post-Bauhaus period in a studio with an international reputation among collectors.
After graduating with the Federal Diploma of Competence as a goldsmith ( Eidgenössisches Fähigkeitszeugnis, Goldschmied), Robert went on to work in Zurich, Victoria, BC, (Canada) and Montreal, QC, where he established a studio with a reputation for creating handmade, contemporary jewelry.
Imbued with the famous Swiss standards of quality and precision, Robert has won several awards and honors, among them two First Prizes at the American Gem Trade Association’s AGTA Spectrum Awards, considered among the most prestigious jewelry prizes in the world.
Over the years Robert has taught jewelry design, CAD and studio techniques at major institutions across North America from adult school through college level. He also serves a clientele that looks to him for fine jewelry that pushes for innovation in design and the quality of craftsmanship. He continues his ongoing commitment as an educator at various institutions in southern California and as an always-curious, forever-learning master of his trade.

Pauline Ackermann is a physicist, gemologist, business owner and an educator. She began her career as a telecommunications engineer in her native Beijing (China). When touring Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City (Canada), she fell in love with the cultural diversity, the vastness and the friendliness of Canadians “who are like the blue sky."
Upon moving to Montreal, Pauline was a paralegal in a law firm. It wasn't long before she joined Robert Ackermann, Inc., a highly reputed goldsmith and jewelry design studio specializing in handmade, contemporary jewelry. She has been in charge of administration and marketing ever since.
Together, Pauline and Robert went on to win several awards and honors, among them La Griffe d'Or, the Canadian Jeweler Magazine's Buyers' Choice Awards and the American Gem Trade Association’s AGTA Spectrum Awards, considered among the most prestigious jewelry prizes in the world.
Once settled in Southern California, Pauline became a Graduate Gemologist and graduated from the Jewelry Business Management program at the Gemological Institute of America. Always looking for a challenge, she earned her Bachelor of Physics degree at the California State University. She is a co-founderof Les Ateliers where the jewelry creators learn how to sketch images that say more than 1,000,000 words.
